Empowering Tamariki through Challenge, Connection & Growth
At Fruitvale School, our Wild Skills programme is designed to complement the learning in class and our school values—Respect (Kia Manaaki), Responsibility (Kia Manawanui), Reflection (Kia Whakaaro), Resilience (Kia Kaha), and Risk‑taking (Kia Toa).
Through a diverse blend of problem-solving challenges, indoor climbing, and outdoor activities, children explore situations that encourage safe, age-appropriate risk‑taking—growing confidence and self-belief along the way. These hands-on experiences foster empathy, teamwork, and social intelligence, while reinforcing our whakataukī values.
As students stretch beyond their comfort zones in a supportive setting, they build resilience, self‑reflection, and a growth-oriented mindset. These life skills will support shaping well-rounded tamariki, ready to contribute positively at school and in the wider community.
